Actor Rupert Everett expresses disappointment over being replaced in 'Emily in Paris', referring to the situation as a personal loss for him.
Rupert Everett, the renowned British actor, has recently been in the spotlight following his reported dismissal from the hit Netflix series "Emily in Paris." In an interview at the Marateale international film festival held in Maratea, Italy, Everett shared his thoughts on the matter.
Everett, who played the role of Giorgio Barbieri, the head of an interior design firm, in one episode of the fourth season, was let go from the show without any direct communication from the producers. "Things change in show business, and characters can be lost," Everett said, reflecting on his departure.
Despite the unexpected turn of events, Everett's career does not seem to have been negatively impacted. IMDb lists multiple upcoming projects for the actor, including a potential sequel to the 1997 film "My Best Friend's Wedding," in which Everett is expected to reprise his role of Julia Roberts' bestie George Downes.
However, Everett has not yet commented on the reasons for his dismissal from "Emily in Paris." When asked about the matter, he expressed that he waited for a call from the producers, but it never came. "Show business is difficult from the beginning to the end," Everett stated, acknowledging the challenges of the industry.
In a more positive note, Everett was recently awarded the Basilicata International Award at the Marateale international film festival. He attended the event to accept the honour, marking a significant moment in his career.
CNN has reached out to representatives for both Rupert Everett and Netflix for comment regarding his dismissal, but as of now, no official statement has been made. The actor is currently set to star in a comedy titled "The Liar" opposite Jeff Goldblum, which is an upcoming project to look forward to.
