Not just another day at the office for Richard Gere (75), as he delves into the nail-biting world of survival dramas once more! Coming up, he'll be joining forces with Michelle Rodriguez (46) in the anticipated new film, "Left Seat." As revealed by "Deadline," this high-octane thriller is set to make an appearance at the glamorous Cannes film market.

Life and Death Situations in the Air

As the tale unfolds, Rodriguez takes on a captivating character, a pharmaceutical rep with a nerve-wracking flight ahead. Driven by sheer panic and a dwindling fuel gauge, she grabs the controls of the small charter plane after the pilot suddenly passes out in mid-air. With treacherous storms looming, she calls upon an unknown ally (Gere) for assistance via radio.

The film's director, Ben Younger, brings a wealth of experience to the project, as his past works like "Bleed for This" revolve around the heart-pounding thriller genre. David M. Crabtree originally penned the screenplay, while Younger added some polish to it. A definite edge: Younger is a real-life pilot, adding an extra dose of realism to the movie.

Exuding excitement, producer Jason Michael Berman commented, "I can hardly wait to bring David M. Crabtree's brilliant script to life, promising an immersive, cinematic experience with tremendous emotional resonance. With Ben Younger, a true pilot, and the incredibly gifted actors Michelle Rodriguez and Richard Gere, 'Left Seat' is a long-cherished dream come true."

A start date and release date for "Left Seat" have yet to be confirmed.

Meanwhile, Gere is making waves in "The Agency" (Paramount+), as well as co-starring in last year's Cannes entry, "Oh, Canada," alongside Uma Thurman (55) and rising star Jacob Elordi (27)[3][4]. Rodriguez, on the other hand, is widely recognized for her memorable performances in the "Fast & Furious" series, as well as "Resident Evil" and "Machete"[2].
