Get ready for a heart-pounding ride as Hollywood heavyweights, Richard Gere (75) and Michelle Rodriguez (46), unite for the survival-themed thriller, "Left Seat." According to industry insider Deadline, this nerve-wracking flick will be showcased at the upcoming Cannes Film Market.

A Pilot's Perspective

In the movie, Rodriguez transforms into a tenacious pharmaceutical rep who's thrust into the pilot's seat after an unexpected in-flight emergency. With fuel dwindling and treacherous storms looming, she enlists the guidance of a mystery man (Gere) over the radio to steer her through the crisis.

Ben Younger, an expert in the gritty thriller genre with works like "Bleed for This" and "Prime" under his belt, takes the helm as director for this adrenaline-fueled film. Younger collaborated with David M. Crabtree on the original script, later revising it himself[1][2][3][5]. What sets this film apart is that Younger himself is a licensed pilot, adding an authentic touch to the production.

"I'm ecstatic to bring David M. Crabtree's captivating script to life, promising a gripping cinematic adventure brimming with emotional depth," producer Jason Michael Berman says in a statement. "With Ben Younger's real-life pilot experience, and the exceptionally talented actors Michelle Rodriguez and Richard Gere, 'Left Seat' is the epitome of a dream come true."

As of yet, production dates and release details for "Left Seat" remain under wraps.

While Gere currently graces the screens in "The Agency" (Paramount+) and last year featured in Paul Schrader's Cannes entry "Oh, Canada," opposite Uma Thurman (55) and Jacob Elordi (27), Rodriguez is renowned for her roles in the "Fast & Furious" series, as well as the "Resident Evil" and "Machete" films.
