Actor renowned for both lead roles and supporting parts in multiple television series:
Christian Kohlund, a Swiss actor with a distinguished career spanning over five decades, has remained a familiar face on German-speaking television since the 1970s. His early roles include performances in the 1974 television adaptation of Die See alongside Siegfried Lowitz, the 1975 TV movie Revolte im Erziehungshaus as the character Fritz, and the 1975/1977 film Abelard: Die Entmannung where he appeared with Susanne Uhlen and Anita Mally.
Currently, Kohlund is best known for his role as gruff lawyer Thomas Borchert in the popular series "Zürich Crime." Since 2016, he has played Borchert in 22 episodes, with new seasons set to start filming in September and air at the end of the year.
Kohlund's passion for acting began early, and he aspired to the "serious" genre. He studied at the Max Reinhardt Seminar in Vienna, and his love for authors like Hemingway and Kleist is evident in his subsequent work. He has directed and acted in productions of their works, as well as in David W. Rintels' "In Doubt for the Accused."
In addition to his television work, Kohlund has appeared in many classical theater pieces in Zurich, Vienna, Berlin, Hamburg, and Munich. He has further developed the character of defense attorney Clarence Darrow, performing it on stage in Berlin, Frankfurt, Vienna, and Zurich.
Off-screen, Kohlund has been married to former German pop singer Elke Best since 1982. The couple lives in the Bavarian Forest and has two children, and as of now, they are grandparents. Despite living in Germany for decades, Kohlund speaks perfect Swiss German, a testament to his Swiss heritage. His ancestors were from Denmark, and he considers himself a world citizen.
Despite his age of 75, Kohlund shows no signs of slowing down. He has no plans to retire, as he loves his work and follows in the footsteps of his grandfather and mother, who were active in theater at older ages. With his unique voice, a family gift and not due to whiskey consumption, and his passion for acting, Kohlund continues to captivate audiences in film, television, and theater.
