In a recent interview with Remind magazine, Burt Ward, who played Robin in the 1960s ABC show Batman, shared his memories of working on the groundbreaking series.

Ward described his time on the show as both physically demanding and exhilarating, highlighting the dangerous stunts he performed alongside Adam West, who played Batman. One memorable example was from the 1966 Batman: The Movie, where they slid down poles from high up on the soundstage, requiring them to carefully modulate their grip to avoid glove and shoe burns from friction.

The extensive fight choreography was another challenging aspect of Ward's role. As Robin was more visible and less often doubled for stunts compared to Batman, who wore a full cowl, Ward had to learn intricate fight sequences.

Julie Newmar, one of the actresses who played Catwoman, brought a unique contribution to the show’s iconic villains. Ward praised all actors who portrayed Batman’s villains—including Newmar, Lee Meriwether, and Eartha Kitt—saying they all brought different qualities and clearly loved being part of the show.

Ward described Batman as a remarkable early attempt to bring superhero stories to television. He conveyed admiration for the professionalism and enthusiasm of the cast, who "never missed a take" and knew their lines perfectly.

In an interview with Fox News Digital, Julie Newmar described Ward's performance as "sublime" as Robin. She also mentioned that Ward was paid a bargain weekly price for his role. Newmar believed the casting of Burt Ward as Robin was "perfect".

Ward also expressed that everyone on the Batman set was a superstar to him and were incredibly nice. He learned a famous phrase during the Batman production: "The bigger they are, the nicer they are."

However, Newmar did mention that Ward annoyed Adam West, but not out of malice. Despite this, Ward's comments about the Batman set were met with enthusiasm, as he believes the integrity and professionalism on the set was exceptional.

The Batman show, which ran from 1966 to 1968, had three seasons and remains a beloved part of pop culture history. Ward's interview with Remind magazine mentioned that every episode of the show included someone he idolized.

As the world has changed since the show's run, Ward is uncertain about the current world. But he believes the spirit and camaraderie of the Batman set will always be exceptional.
