Actor Pik-Sen Lim, famed for his role in Mind Your Language, passes away at 80 years old.

British-Malaysian actress Pik-Sen Lim, who captivated audiences with her sparkling performances, breathed her last on June 9, at the age of 80. Born in Penang, Malaysia, in 1944, Lim made the UK her home in the 1960s, seeking her fortunes at the London School of Dramatic Art.

Her career, spanning nearly six decades, was a testament to her versatility and dedication to her craft. She left an indelible mark on British television and film, shining brightly with her charisma and unique charm.

Her breakthrough role came with the hit British sitcom, Mind Your Language. Lim portrayed Chung Su-Lee, an endearing Chinese student who spoke broken English and often referenced Mao Zedong, causing amusing confusion. This series ran from 1977 to 1979 and had a brief revival in 1985.

While Mind Your Language catapulted her to fame, Lim's career extended far beyond this iconic sitcom. She enriched the scripts of numerous TV series and films, including Doctor Who, General Hospital, The Professionals, Vampire Academy, The Nevers, This Way Up, and Johnny English Reborn.

In Doctor Who, she played Chin Lee in the 1971 serial, The Mind of Evil, and reprised the role for Big Finish in UNIT: Revisitations' Open the Box. In 2018, she joined Big Finish once more, appearing in Jenny - The Doctor's Daughter.

Lim's career highlights include more than 30 other film and TV roles, her decision to change her name due to mispronunciation by British friends, and her marriage to Doctor Who writer Don Houghton. Their daughter, Sara Houghton, followed in the family footsteps, becoming an actress herself.
