Get ready, Potterheads! Actor Oliver Masucci, known for his beloved roles, is making his long-awaited return to the stage in Hamburg, Germany. While some may have hoped for a rendition of Dumbledore, Masucci has chosen a role that's as darkly alluring as it is iconic: Severus Snape.
For ten performances beginning February 29, 2024, at the Mehr! theater at the Grossmarkt, Masucci will bring his passion for the magical world back to the spotlight. The decision to slip on Snape's robe wasn't made lightly; Masucci, a fan of the Harry Potter series himself, claimed it was the role's complexity and his love-hate relationship with the character that drew him in.
The story of Harry Potter and his son, now a compact production, has been charming the city's audience since December 2021, with over 700,000 people unable to resist its enchanting storyline. Having already made it big as part of "Fantastic Beasts 3: Dumbledore's Secrets" alongside Mads Mikkelsen, Jude Law, and Eddie Redmayne, Masucci is eager to explore the behind-the-scenes magic this time around.
"Finding out all the tricks of how it's done. This stage is very, very complex. It's great that I can be behind the scenes, so to speak. It's like watching David Copperfield from behind the scenes," Masucci revealed.
A quick search reveals that the production being staged in Hamburg is actually titled "Harry Potter und das verwunschene Kind" (or "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child") at Theatre am Großmarkt[1]. Tickets for the show, which range from 99 Euro, can be found on their official website or by contacting the theatre directly.
