Actor Mikhail Efremov, who recently completed his prison sentence, has secured a leading role in an upcoming film. According to the Telegram channel Mash, Efremov has signed a contract for a whopping 13 million rubles to star in the yet-to-be-named production.
Negotiations for the project have reportedly been finalized, with Efremov receiving an advance of approximately 4 million rubles. Filming is scheduled to commence in August 2025 in Belarus. During the interim, Efremov will focus on restoring his health and preparing for the role.
Efremov was released early from the Belgorod penal colony on April 9. His attorney, Yuri Padalko, confirmed that the actor was discreetly transported to Moscow to avoid media attention. At the time, Padalko stated that Efremov intended to resume his profession.
This will be Efremov's first significant role following his imprisonment. Previously, he served time for a fatal DUI in central Moscow.
