Michael Clarke Duncan, the towering and charismatic actor who gained worldwide fame for his role as "John Coffey" in the 1999 film "The Green Mile", passed away unexpectedly on September 3, 2012, at the age of 54.

Born in Chicago, Duncan began his acting career in the 1990s, and quickly rose to prominence with his powerful performances in various films. After "The Green Mile", he took on roles in movies such as "Daredevil", where he played the menacing "Kingpin", "The Scorpion King", where he portrayed the character "Balthazar", and "Planet of the Apes", in which he played "Captain Attar". In "The Island", he played the character "Starkweather", and in "The Island", he played the character "Starkweather".

Duncan's acting career was not without recognition. He was nominated for an Oscar and a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor for his role in "The Green Mile".

Tragically, Duncan's life was cut short by a heart attack on July 13, 2012. Despite receiving treatment at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, he was unable to recover from the aortic dissection that was initially misdiagnosed as a heart attack. The specific cause of his heart attack was an aortic dissection, a severe cardiovascular event that ultimately led to his hospitalization and eventual death.

At the time of his death, Duncan was in a relationship with Omarosa Manigault-Stallworth, a reality TV personality and author.
