Actor Kelley Mack from "The Walking Dead" has passed away at the age of 33, following a seven-month fight with cancer.
The Walking Dead actress Kelley Mack, known for her role as Addy in season 9, has passed away at the age of 33 following a battle with glioma, a rare and aggressive type of brain cancer.
Mack's cancer battle was documented on her Instagram account over the last few months, where she shared updates on her treatment and recovery journey. She revealed her diagnosis of diffuse midline glioma in January, a type of astrocytoma cancer that affects the central nervous system.
In the months that followed, Mack underwent a biopsy surgery on her spinal cord, which resulted in the loss of the use of her right leg and most of her left leg. Despite the difficulties, she continued to share her experiences, including the persistent lower back pain and neuropathic itching in her right quad that led to her having to sleep in a recliner for a month due to the pain.
Her death elicited condolences from colleagues and fans, who remembered her talent and spirit. Mack also appeared in Chicago Med and 9-1-1, and her co-stars from The Walking Dead have paid tribute to her following her passing.
A recognition and remembrance of Kelley's life will be held in Los Angeles for her friends and colleagues. The formal announcement of Kelley's life celebration is on August 16th in Ohio, as shared on her Caringbridge link.
Kelley passed peacefully on Saturday evening with her mother Kristen and aunt Karen present. Her sister confirmed her death in an Instagram post on Tuesday.
Some of Kelley's loved ones have reported seeing her in the form of various butterflies since her passing. The exact cause of Kelley's battle with glioma has not been revealed.
