Actor Kay Kay Menon Denies Allegations in 'Fraudulent Voting' Promotional Video
Kay Kay Menon Denies Involvement in Congress Party's 'Vote Chori' Campaign
A misunderstanding has arisen regarding actor Kay Kay Menon's role in the Congress party's 'Vote Chori' campaign. The video shared by the Congress party's Instagram account features Menon's character Himmat Singh from the web series Special Ops, urging viewers to join the 'vote chori' campaign. However, Menon has clarified that he is not part of the campaign and that the video used a clip from his Special Ops promotions without his permission.
In the video, Menon's character Himmat Singh is shown speaking against alleged electoral fraud, but Menon clarified that the clip was originally part of a promo encouraging viewers to watch the show and was never intended as a political endorsement. Menon commented on the Congress's post, denying participation and highlighting unauthorized use: "Please let it be noted that I have not acted in this ad. A clip from my Special Ops promotions has been edited and used without permission."
The controversy has raised questions about the ethical and legal use of promotional content and celebrity images in political campaigns without consent. The Congress party has yet to issue a statement addressing the issue.
Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi, the Congress leader, has accused the Election Commission of India (ECI) of allegedly indulging in 'vote chori' and demanded transparency from the ECI. He also launched a web portal for citizens to register and demand accountability from the EC and support for the demand for digital voter rolls.
