Malayalam actor and mimicry artist Kalabhavan Navas was found dead in a hotel room in Chottanikkara, Kochi, on August 1, 2025.
The popular actor, who was 51, was staying at the hotel for a film shoot of the movie "Prakambanam." Hotel staff discovered him unresponsive in his room when he failed to check out by the expected time. Preliminary investigations suggest that he may have suffered a heart attack.
Kalabhavan Navas had planned to check out of the hotel after completing his shoot. When he didn't, the hotel staff went to confirm his checkout and found him unconscious. Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, doctors were unable to revive him, and he was declared dead.
The police found no signs of foul play or suspicious circumstances in his room. An autopsy has been scheduled for Saturday to determine the exact cause of Kalabhavan Navas's death.
Kalabhavan Navas was a noted figure in Malayalam cinema and mimicry. He debuted in the film industry with Chaithanyam in 1995 and went on to act in films like Mattupetti Machan, Junior Mandrake, and Amma Ammayi Amma. He also had notable playback singing credits to his name.
Kalabhavan Navas is survived by his wife Rehana and his brother. The final autopsy results are pending as of August 2, 2025, with the body kept at SD Tata hospital in Chottanikkara before being handed over to his family after the post-mortem.
