Blake Lively Drops Two Claims Against Justin Baldoni, Citing "Publicity Stunt"

Actor Justin Baldoni has successfully evaded two accusations lodged against him by Blake Lively.

Things are heating up between US actress Blake Lively and her former co-star Justin Baldoni. In a surprising turn of events, Lively has decided to drop two of her claims against the actor and director. These dropped claims involve allegations of "intentional infliction of mental anguish" and "negligent infliction of mental anguish."

According to entertainment magazine "Variety", Baldoni's legal team had requested access to Lively's medical records to defend against the accusation of causing "severe mental anguish and pain" in the actress. This request encompassed documentation like therapy notes and other documents. In response to this, Lively's lawyers have opted to withdraw the aforementioned claims rather than comply with the request, which they deemed as a "publicity stunt" by the opposing side.

The ongoing legal dispute between Lively and Baldoni stems from their work together on the movie "It Ends with Us" back in 2024. In December 2024, Lively filed a complaint with the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing, alleging sexual harassment and a suspected smear campaign against her. Baldoni denies the allegations and countered with his own lawsuit, valuing damages at $400 million for defamation, extortion, and more. The trial date is set for March 2026.

Mental Anguish Claims Remain in the Lawsuit

While Blake Lively's lawyers have dropped the aforementioned claims, mental anguish still remains a central aspect of the lawsuit. Other parts of the case involve allegations of sexual harassment, retaliation, and defamation, which the legal teams are gearing up to address. The court is now set to decide on the matter regarding the medical records request.

In the US, access to medical records is typically requested when such claims are made. The dispute between Lively and Baldoni is now linked to six separate lawsuits.
