Ivan Krasko, the esteemed Russian actor and People's Artist of Russia, passed away in St. Petersburg on August 9, 2025, at the age of 94. The specific cause of his death was oncology (cancer), compounded by complications from multiple strokes, including a fourth stroke he suffered in 2023.

In the last few months of his life, Krasko was unable to walk and had severe vision and hearing impairments. He was hospitalized in intensive care multiple times, undergoing rehabilitation after a stroke. Vyacheslav Smorodinov, a close associate, mentioned that in his final days, Krasko was eating and drinking poorly, indicative of a prolonged serious illness.

Krasko's funeral took place in St. Petersburg, where he was buried next to his son, actor Andrei Krasko. Notable figures attended the service, paying homage to his legacy.

Born in 1931, Krasko started his acting career in the 1950s and became the first People's Artist of Russia in 1992. He was awarded the title of Honored Artist of the RSFSR in 1976, marking his significant contribution to the world of Russian theatre and cinema.

Dar'ia, Krasko's assistant, provided round-the-clock care for him in his final days. Her dedication and care were instrumental in ensuring Krasko's comfort and wellbeing during his illness.
