Hollywood bids farewell to one of its most versatile character actors, Harris Yulin. The 87-year-old died in New York City on Tuesday due to a heart attack, as reported by "Deadline."

Born on November 5, 1937, in Los Angeles, Yulin graced over 100 film and television productions and numerous Broadway plays throughout his illustrious career. He made his Broadway debut in 1963 with "Next Time I'll Sing to You," but his breakthrough came in 1980 with a revival of "Watch on the Rhine." His stage career continued with significant appearances in "The Visit," "The Diary of Anne Frank," "The Price," and most recently in 2001 in "Hedda Gabler."

With his distinctive appearance, Yulin became a sought-after character actor in Hollywood. He starred in numerous blockbuster films like "Scarface," "Ghostbusters II," "Training Day," "Rush Hour 2," "The Firm," and "Hurricane." Yulin's guest role in "Frasier" in 1996 brought him great recognition, earning him an Emmy nomination. He also made notable TV appearances in "Ozark," "Billions," "Veep," and "The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt." His latest appearance was in the 2021 film "Omni Loop."

In addition to his acting career, Yulin worked as a director and taught film at the prestigious Juilliard School and other universities. Before his passing, he was preparing for his role in the MGM+ series "American Classic," set to star alongside Kevin Kline and Laura Linney. Director Michael Hoffman, who worked with Yulin on the 2005 film "Game 6," paid tribute to the late actor with moving words: "Harris Yulin was simply one of the greatest artists I've ever encountered. His combination of immense technique with a fresh discovery sense gave his work an immediacy, vitality, and purity that I've never seen elsewhere. And what he was as an actor, he was as a human being: the grace, the humility, the generosity."
