Actor Harald Juhnke secures a spot at Kurfürstendamm

Paying Tribute to Harald Juhnke: A Square on the Iconic Kurfürstendamm

- Actor Harald Juhnke secures a spot at Kurfürstendamm

Let's talk 'bout gonna name a spot on that famous boulevard, Kurfürstendamm, after the legendary entertainer, Harald Juhnke. Sounds wild? It isn't, mate! The district parliament of Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf unanimously accepted a proposal for this badass tribute, with just two of 'em abstaining.

So, there we go - the CDU, the Greens, the SPD, and them rascals in the FDP have been pushing for this act of appreciation on the eve of Juhnke's 20th death anniversary (April Fools' Day, man!). The FDP came up with the idea, but they struck out last year.

Harold, as we fondly call him, is still one of the most badass entertainers in Germany, born back in 1929 at that Municipal Women's Clinic (Scheck-Hospital, if ya know) in ol' Charlottenburg. Dude started acting early in life, and he was killin' it in German theater and television for about five decades! Shows like "A Wild Couple" and his own, "Music is Queen," were real smash hits!

Old Harold was more than just an actor; he was a multitalented guy. He lent his voice to some of Hollywood's greatest actors, like Charles Bronson and Marlon Brando. He was, like, totally connected to the theater scene in western Berlin!

So hit the bricks, 'cause there's gonna be a street sign at the intersection between Kurfürstendamm / Uhland- and Grolmannstraße that'll be a constant reminder of him – but don't hold your breath for the exact date yet.

The FDP in Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf has already made that nifty piece of signage with the inscription "Harald-Juhnke-Platz." The Faction leader, Felix Recke-Friedrich, showed it off at the site and later at the district meeting.

Berlin's mayor, Kai Wegner, has agreed to this plan, stating, "Berlin is gonna ensure that this brilliant actor and his incredible work is never forgotten with the Harald-Juhnke-Platz on the Kudamm."
