Actor Gérard Depardieu will return to the big screen for another film appearance.

Get ready for a heart-wrenching drama hitting the big screens soon. Former French cinema heavyweight, Gerard Depardieu, is making a comeback after facing sexual harassment allegations with a new movie titled "Elle regardait sans plus rien voir."

The film, produced by APM, is currently under production in Portugal's Azores archipelago. In the mysterious love story, Depardieu will be portraying the island's enigmatic magician. The project, dubbed as a "100% portugaise" production, revolves around two women isolated on a mystical island.

The production company's website lists Depardieu as one of the actors, and a photo circulating on social media shows him engrossed in the movie's script. According to producer Ana Pinhao Moura, filming is going smoothly, and they are pleased with the progress.

Despite the legal stir around Depardieu, his long-time collaborator Fanny Ardant has stood by him. Ardant testified in his defense during a Paris trial in March, and she continued to support him by casting him in this new project. The trial saw the prosecution demanding an 18-month suspended sentence and a fine for Depardieu, who denied the sexual harassment allegations. The verdict is expected on May 13.

Depardieu and Ardant have a long history together, having starred together in films like "La Femme d'à côté" in 1981 and "Les Volets verts" more recently.

The film's release date has not been announced yet. With production commencing in mid-April, a 2025-2026 festival circuit debut could be on the cards, but delays may occur depending on the court's decision. The film's blending of romance and mysticism promises an intriguing exploration of isolation and interpersonal dynamics.

As Depardieu awaits his verdict, his return to acting serves as a meaningful comeback attempt. The movie industry and the public eagerly await how this case impacts his career trajectory.

  1. The community policy and employment policy of the film industry may be tested as Gerard Depardieu returns to screen amidst controversy in his new Portuguese film, "Elle regardait sans plus rien voir."
  2. Despite the remembrance of Depardieu's legal turmoil, his employment in this film is a testament to his long-standing collaboration with actor Fanny Ardant, who continues to stand by him.
  3. The memory of Depardieu's past films with Ardant, such as "La Femme d'à côté" in 1981 and "Les Volets verts," are a significant part of cinema history and may influence the viewers' anticipation for this upcoming Portuguese production.
  4. Upon completing this new project, Depardieu's employment policy will be closely observed in the entertainment industry, as the verdict of his trial, set for May 13, could shape his future roles and career path in the movies-and-tv industry.
