- Actor George Clooney declines to participate in future romantic films.

Gearing up for a new chapter, George Clooney (Out of Sight), the 63-year-old powerhouse, is bidding farewell to the Hollywood romantic genre. "Romantic films? Not my cup of tea anymore," he candidly shared in an interview with US' CBS News. "I ain't here to compete with the young guns. That's not my gig."

With his eyes set on fresher pastures, he recently made a splash on Broadway, starring as the pioneering journalist, Edward R. Murrow. The play, based on the 2005 film "Good Night, and Good Luck," presented some nervous-making moments on the busy streets of New York. "It's nerve-grating, and there's a truckload of reasons why it's bonkers to do this," the Hollywood icon confessed. Convincing audiences to time-travel back to the 1950s isn't a walk in the park.

The play, a stage adaptation of the original film, has Clooney reprising his role as Edward R. Murrow. He was also behind the camera, directing the film, and collaborated with his pal, Grant Heslov, on the screenplay. Heslov has also crafted the stage adaptation for the Winter Garden Theatre production.

Even with his extensive acting experience, stage fright still haunts Clooney—especially when his wife Amal is in the front row. "The family can be so close, it makes the two-time Oscar winner ('Syriana', 'Argo') jittery," he confessed. Unlike on a film set, he doesn't have the privilege of avoiding his family's scrutiny. "I concentrate real hard on not looking at them. My lady sits way, way, way in the back."
