Rebel Dudes Reunite: "Ferris Makes a Splash" Stars Plan Comedy Remake

Get ready for a dosage of nostalgia! Matthew Broderick (63) and Alan Ruck (68), the iconic duo known for their roles in the '80s cult classic "Ferris Makes a Splash" (1986), are rumored for another buddy comedy adventure. If everything falls into place, these long-time pals will steer the ship again in "The Best Is Yet To Come." According to "Deadline.com," they're in discussions for this upcoming project. Allan Loeb, the man behind "Rock of Ages," is penning the script, while Jon Turteltaub, director of "Last Vegas" and "Meg," is expected to helm the production.

The French comedy "Le meilleur reste à venir," released in 2019, serves as the foundation for this American remake. Til Schweiger already grabbed the helm as director and the lead role in the German remake titled "Das Beste kommt noch!", set to hit cinemas in 2023.

French Fare

This new buddy comedy revolves around two lifelong friends who, after a misunderstanding, believe one of them has only a few months left to live. With stark differences - one a playboy, the other a family man - they embark on a series of wild adventures to celebrate their friendship and the precious moments left.

French producer Dimitri Rassam is on board as an executive producer, having previously worked on the original movie. Though no official announcement has been made, it's rumored that filming could begin as early as this summer.

School Prankster Becomes Buddy Movie Star

In John Hughes' high school farce "Ferris Makes a Splash," younger Broderick embodied the rebellious Ferris Bueller, a kid who hated school. With his buddy, Cameron (Ruck), and his girlfriend, he spends a wild day in Chicago that eventually spirals out of control.
