Gathering of Actors from 'Ferris Bueller's Day Off' Classic Film - Actor duo from "Ferris Makes Blue" films come together again

It's been nearly four decades since John Hughes' legendary high school comedy "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" graced our screens. But it seems like the stars are aligning once more for the legendary duo, Matthew Broderick (63) and Alan Ruck (68), who starred as Ferris and his best bud Cameron respectively. Rumor has it that Deadline's U.S. industry scoop hints at a potential reunion, with Broderick and Ruck each in talks for a role in "The Best Is Yet to Come", a fresh buddy comedy adaptation!

Originating from France as "Le meilleur reste à venir" and hitting German theaters as "Das Beste kommt noch" in 2020, this buddy comedy has already attracted attention with Til Schweiger (61) filming the adaptation under the same title in 2023.

Could Production Start this Summer?

Schweiger's not the only one jumping on the bandwagon. U.S. screenwriter Allan Loeb and director Jon Turteltaub have already been locked down for the American adaptation. Dimitri Rassam, the producer of the French original, is set to produce the U.S. version too. If Broderick and Ruck ink the deal soon, we might witness the cameras rolling as early as this summer!

Much like the original, "The Best Is Yet to Come" centers around a pair of mismatched, aging buddies who, due to a misunderstanding, believe the other is nearing the end of the road. In order to truly cherish their camaraderie one final time, they embark on an unforgettable road trip, making it somewhat of an unofficial spin-off of "Ferris Bueller's Day Off".

Following their stint in the world of high school, Matthew Broderick graced our screens in the comedy "No Hard Feelings". Since then, Alan Ruck has gained a fresh wave of recognition for his persuasive portrayal in the popular series, "Succession".
