Actor Dean Cain praises President Trump and shares his desired choice for the next Superman role among Hollywood celebrities.
In a recent interview with Variety, Dean Cain, the former actor of Superman in the Nineties TV series Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, expressed his hope that Michael B. Jordan will be the next actor to portray the DC superhero. Cain, who is of Japanese descent, led the series as the Man of Steel from 1993 to 1997, gaining fame that significantly changed his life.
James Gunn, the director of the upcoming Superman movie, announced that Michael B. Jordan would wear the blue bodysuit of Superman. Jordan, the star of Creed and rumored to be developing a limited series based around a Black incarnation of Superman, has been identified by Cain as the ideal candidate for the role. According to Cain, Jordan "has all the qualities of Superman - that humility, that kindness, that openness, that earnestness."
Cain's endorsement of Jordan comes in contrast with his own conservative political views. During the 2016, 2020, and 2024 presidential elections, Cain proudly endorsed Donald Trump. Cain revealed that he and Trump have been friends "forever," having first met in 2009 at a Miss Universe pageant. Cain considers Trump to be one of the most empathetic, wonderful, and generous people he has ever met.
However, Cain did not express any opinions about the "pro-immigrant themes" in the new Superman movie, which has been criticized by Fox News as "superwoke." Cain appreciates the depiction of Krypto, Superman's dog, in the movie, as he saves a squirrel and a little girl.
In addition to his role in Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, Cain later returned to the Superman universe in the six-season CW show Supergirl, where he starred as Dr. Jeremiah Danvers, the adoptive father of Superman's cousin Superman's cousin Supergirl/Kara Danvers (Melissa Benoist).
Meanwhile, another actor, Michael B. Jordan, has been rumored to be developing a limited series based around a Black incarnation of Superman. This development would mark a significant shift in the representation of the iconic superhero.
Dean Cain's interview with Variety also discussed his views on the new Superman movie and his experiences in the Superman universe. As he put on the Superman cape, Cain's friend warned him that people would call him Superman for the rest of his life. Wearing the cape significantly changed Cain's life, leading him to become a respected figure in the world of superheroes.
As the debate over the next Superman continues, it is clear that both Dean Cain and Michael B. Jordan bring unique perspectives and qualities to the table. Only time will tell who will don the cape and carry on the legacy of the Man of Steel.
