Stealing Macron's Wax Statue: Greenpeace Protesting France-Russia Business Ties 🚀

The famous wax statue of French President Emmanuel Macron, worth €40,000, was purloined from the renowned Musée Grévin in the heart of Paris, and then paraded in front of the Russian embassy by daring Greenpeace activists. Here's the lowdown on this bold stunt.

These eco-warriors sauntered into the museum, pretending to be tourists, then posed as employees to snatch the statue and hide it under a blanket[1][2]. A self-proclaimed Greenpeace member later fessed up to the museum, causing a panic that led to the authorities being informed immediately.

With placards and a banner that screamed "Ukraine burns, business continues," the activists transported the loot to the Russian embassy in the 16th arrondissement, aiming to pinpoint France's economic ties with Russia—namely its imports of gas, chemical fertilizers, and uranium from the Russian bear[3]. Greenpeace, in their official statement, announced they had borrowed the statue, and on social media, they justified their audacious action.

Jean-Francois Julliard, the Director General of Greenpeace France, stated, "We consider France as a two-faced character. Emmanuel Macron embodies this double-talk: while he supports Ukraine, he encourages French companies to keep doing business with Russia." He further stressed that Macron, being a key player in European discussions, should spearhead the termination of trade contracts between the OldContinent and Russia to protect Ukraine[3].

As the demonstration ran its course, the police intervened, nabbing two activists. The missing statue remains a hot topic, and its return to the Musée Grévin is eagerly awaited.
