Wangchuk was detained on September 24 after clashes erupted in Leh. The UT administration accused him of making provocative statements and inciting the public. In response, Wangchuk suggested an 'Arab Spring' type revolution in India if his demands were not met.
The Ladakh administration has dismissed allegations of victimisation against Wangchuk. However, his wife, Gitanjali Angmo, has publicly supported him, dismissing the allegations and accusing the Ladakh police of working with an agenda.
The FCRA certification of Wangchuk's NGO, SECMOL, has been cancelled due to multiple violations. The administration stated that law enforcement agencies are investigating based on credible inputs and documents.
