Activist and volunteer Sternenko suffers injuries in an attack; suspect apprehended
Revamped Report:
Activist and drone whiz, Serhii Sternenko, took a bullet but narrowly escaped death in a brutal attempted assassination, he announced on Telegram. Sternenko, known for his role in military crowdfunding and supplying FPV drones to the frontlines, remains unbowed, vowing to continue his work.
"Russians are scum," Sternenko shared, acknowledging the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) for their quick response that supposedly saved his life. A chilling video shared by Ukrainska Pravda shows a woman firing at Sternenko as he exits a residential building, an incident authorities reported as an attempted assassination with a firearm.
The assailant, a woman linked to Russian intelligence services, was sneakily monitoring Sternenko. According to reports, she had rented an apartment at his same residential complex, amassing funds for the hit through her bank accounts and allocating them accordingly.
Serhii Sternenko, a 30-year-old Kyiv-based activist with deep roots in Odesa Oblast, gained recognition for his vocal role in the 2013–2014 EuroMaidan Revolution. Since then, he's been a vocal critic of local authorities. Sternenko's primary focus now revolves around supplying FPV drones, having founded the Sternenko Community Foundation. As of May 1, 2025, the foundation has reportedly purchased more than 176,000 drones – making it Ukraine’s largest non-governmental FPV drone supplier.
Sternenko's colorful online presence, which includes a YouTube channel with over 2 million subscribers and a Telegram channel with over 840,000 followers, has amplified his cause. His platforms have proven valuable in raising funds and raising awareness about frontline needs.
Sternenko's activist journey hasn't been easy; he's faced multiple attacks in the past, including a 2018 incident where he defended himself against an assailant, resulting in a fatal injury. The case was eventually closed in December 2023. This latest incident remains a chilling reminder of the risks faced by those who dare to speak truth to power.
