Actions of producer Cris Morena towards an actress during mourning period following the death of Mila Yankelevich, her granddaughter
In a heartbreaking turn of events, the Miami boat accident that occurred on July 28, 2025, has claimed the life of 7-year-old Mila Yankelevich. Mila was among multiple children on a sailboat that collided with a barge near Miami Beach.
The tragic incident resulted in the deaths of three children: Mila Yankelevich, 7; Erin Victoria Ko Han, 13; and Arielle Mazi Buchman, 10. The deaths of Mila and Erin were ruled as accidental drownings by the Miami-Dade Medical Examiner's Department. Arielle passed away later in the hospital from injuries sustained during the collision.
Mila is the daughter of Argentine director Tomas Yankelevich and actress Sofia Reca, and the granddaughter of well-known Argentine television producers Gustavo Yankelevich and Cris Morena. The boat was part of a summer sailing camp operated by the Miami Yacht Club and affiliated with the Miami Youth Sailing Foundation.
The U.S. Coast Guard is continuing its investigation into the cause of the collision and is working alongside Argentine and Chilean maritime authorities to uncover all the facts surrounding the tragedy. Another 8-year-old girl is also hospitalized in critical condition due to the boat accident.
Arielle Buchman, an 11-year-old Argentine girl, is currently fighting for her life in the hospital. The 12-year-old girl and the instructor were rescued alive from the water and are in good condition.
Mila's tragic death has sent shockwaves through the entertainment industry. Cris Morena, the grandmother of the deceased girl, is a well-known producer. After the news became public, entertainment personalities such as Susana Giménez, Nicolás Vázquez, Benjamin Vicuña, Diego Topa, Gimena Accardi, and Benjamin Rojas shared heartfelt messages to accompany the family during this difficult time.
It is worth noting that Isabel Macedo, who played Delfina Santillán in the telenovela Chiquititas between 2004 and 2005, was also involved in the boat accident. Cris Morena recently posted a birthday greeting for actress Isabel Macedo on her Instagram account, which was her first post on social media after the tragic death of her granddaughter became public. Isabel Macedo has 1.6 million followers on her Instagram account.
