Hoo-bloody-ray! The Eurovision Song Contest is back, and this year's extravaganza is heating up in the Swiss city of Basel. With a side of typical Swiss folklore and alpenhorns, the show hosted by the hilarious duo, Hazel Brugger (31) and theequally charming Sandra Studer (56), is about to get wild. On Tuesday night, the first semi-final took the stage, where the top ten acts, along with the "Big Five" and the host country, were chosen from an electrifying lineup of 15 performers.

This year's semi-finalists got the party started, featuring everything from dazzling performances to emotional rollercoasters. The competition kicked off with Island, followed by Poland, Slovenia, Estonia, Ukraine, Sweden, Portugal, Norway, Belgium, Azerbaijan, San Marino, Albania, the Netherlands, Croatia, and last but not least, Cyprus.

Who's the Dark Horse in the Race?

Among the buzzing favorites this year are Sweden's sauna sensation KAJ and their infectious anthem "Bara bada bastu". And you know what? They were one of the first acts to secure their spot in the Grand Finale.

Let's take a look at the finalists:

Norway: Kyle Alessandro with "Lighter"

Albania: Shkodra Elektronike with "Zjerm"

Sweden: KAJ with "Bara bada bastu"

Iceland: VÆB with "Róa"

Netherlands: Claude with "C'est La Vie"

Poland: Justyna Steczkowska with "Gaja"

San Marino: Gabry Ponte with "Tutta l'Italia"

Estonia: Tommy Cash with "Espresso Macchiato"

Portugal: NAPA with "Deslocado"

Ukraine: Ziferblat with "Bird Of Pray"

Unfortunately, the following acts didn't make the cut:

Slovenia: Klemen with "How Much Time Do We Have Left"

Cyprus: Theo Evan with "Shh"

Croatia: Marko Bošnjak with "Poison Cake"

Azerbaijan: Mamagama with "Run With U"

Belgium: Red Sebastian with "Strobe Lights"

Celine Dion's Surprise Appearance

Now, almost stealing the show during the first semi-final was an unexpected video message from none other than Celine Dion! This little twist caused a stir during the dress rehearsal, and on Tuesday night, it finally hit the live show, raising concerns that Dion might not be in attendance on Saturday. However, a definite cancellation seems to be on hold. Previous statements from ESC media spokesperson Adrian Erni have underlined that they remain in contact with her.

The second semi-final will take place on May 15, with the Grand Finale happening two days later.
