Ackles Resumes Duties in Fresh Glance at His Amazon Show, with His Supernatural Clan Adding Fiery Remarks

Jensen Ackles will be starring in the upcoming Prime Video series, "Countdown", slated for release in 2025. The actor, known for his role as Dean Winchester in "Supernatural", has been embracing new roles following the conclusion of the popular series.

"Countdown" follows LAPD detective Mark Meachum, played by Ackles, who is recruited into a covert task force comprising undercover agents from various U.S. law enforcement branches. The series is created by Derek Haas, who also served as a co-creator and longtime showrunner for "Chicago Fire".

The intriguing plot is set in motion when an officer from the Department of Homeland Security is brutally murdered in broad daylight. As the investigation progresses, it uncovers a much more ominous conspiracy—a foreign party plans a catastrophic attack similar to Chernobyl, targeting Los Angeles. This revelation sparks a fast-paced race against time to thwart the disaster and protect millions of lives in the city.

The series promises nail-biting action, featuring shootouts, hand-to-hand combat, and high-stakes pursuits. The storyline revolves around the team's efforts to reveal the conspirators behind the murder and stop the looming catastrophe, while navigating the dangerous terrain of undercover work.

Jessed Camacho and Eric Dane also star in the series, alongside Ackles. Camacho portrays a character whose personality shines in the trailer, hinting at a potential co-lead or secondary role.

Ackles shared the trailer for the series on social media, teasing its June 25 premiere. His "Supernatural" co-stars, including Timothy Omundson, Felicia Day, Adam Rose, Danneel Ackles, and Kathryn Newton, flooded the comment section with their excitement for the series, expressing a common sentiment that the trailer is "fire" or highly engaging.

While "Countdown" may not feature a wealth of "Supernatural" cast members like "The Boys" has on Prime Video, Ackles has hinted that fans of Dean Winchester will find certain similarities in his new character. For those who haven't caught up, the entire "Supernatural" series is still available to stream on Netflix, offering 327 episodes across 15 seasons.

With its gripping storyline, high-octane action, and promising cast, "Countdown" is shaping up to be a thrilling addition to Prime Video's lineup. The wait for its premiere on June 25, 2025 continues, but fans can keep themselves occupied with the wealth of "Supernatural" content available on Netflix in the meantime.

Daily entertainment offerings on Prime Video will include interviews with Jensen Ackles about his role in the upcoming series "Countdown", as well as features on movies-and-tv shows like "Supernatural". Ackles' new series follows the release of "Supernatural" which has been a daily blend of suspense, action, and supernatural elements for its dedicated fanbase.
