The General Prosecutor's Office in Frankfurt has accused a 52-year-old Frankfurt lawyer of spearheading an organized and commercial human trafficking ring. The lawyer is said to have used a network to smuggle wealthy individuals unlawfully into Germany.

These operations revolved around Acquiring and renting residential and commercial properties in Pirmasens and Saarbrücken through a company the lawyer headed. These premises were then repurposed to establish shell companies, offering fake employment contracts and addresses to procure fraudulent residency permits.

Allegedly, the lawyer, alongside other suspects, aided 20 clients from China, Iran, Iraq, Sudan, Turkey, and Vietnam between 2021 and 2023 in acquiring these prohibited residency permits. The accused is said to have pocketed between €20,000 and €35,000 for each case.

Authorities conducted extensive raids in various federal states, citing multiple clients' allegations. In April 2023, over 90 residential and business premises in Hesse, North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland-Palatinate, and Saarland were searched by more than 200 federal police officers and several public prosecutors from the General Prosecutor's Office's intervention unit.

The intervention unit, formed in 2000, constitutes a senior public prosecutor and several senior and junior public prosecutors. They primarily tackle organized and commercial tax crimes, economic offenses, organized crime, and cold cases.
