Accused individual's trial in attempt to assassinate former president Trump reaches its conclusion with prosecutors putting forth their arguments.

The ongoing trial of Ryan Routh, who is accused of attempting to assassinate President Donald Trump, is making headlines once again.

According to the testimony of FBI Supervisory Special Agent Kimberly McGreevy, Routh allegedly purchased an SKS-style rifle a month prior to the attempted shooting on September 15, 2024. This weapon was later seized by federal agents.

McGreevy, who testified for hours, detailed Routh's activities leading up to the incident. During this time, Routh was reportedly living at a truck stop, conducting physical and electronic surveillance, and stalking the former President. He allegedly moved between Mar-a-Lago, Trump's golf club, the airport where the president keeps his plane, and the truck stop where Routh was living in his SUV.

On the day of the alleged assassination attempt, a Secret Service agent reportedly foiled the plot. The agent testified that he saw a rifle barrel poking through a fence at the edge of the property. After the agent fired, the gunman fled without shooting the weapon.

Prosecutors are seeking to block all of the evidence Routh wants to introduce in his defense. However, Routh is expected to call a firearms expert and two character witnesses for his defense case, scheduled to start on Monday. These witnesses are expected to testify about Routh's "peacefulness, gentleness and non-violence."

Despite Routh representing himself in the trial after expressing dissatisfaction with his court-appointed lawyers, Judge Cannon has already rejected most of his requests to subpoena witnesses. As of now, Judge Cannon has yet to rule on the evidence block request.

In a twist of events, it appears that there are no available details in the search results about which persons Routh attempted to acquire weapons from in the month before the attempted assassination.

The trial continues, with the public and media eagerly awaiting the outcome of this significant case.
