Stunner in Mendoza: Suspect's Yarn About Abuse Crumbles

In a jaw-dropping development, the sensational case that's caused quite a stir in Mendoza took another twist last Friday. Adriana Valeria Suárez, the central figure accused of murdering, dismembering, and charring the remains of her tenant, César Darío Rodas, in her Guaymallén residence, confidently claimed to authorities that her horrific act was prompted by unfounded allegations of abuse against one of her daughters. But new evidence has poured cold water on that version.

As per the Public Prosecutor's Office declaration, none of Suárez's five minor daughters shows any signs of physical abuse. This revelation marks the only official info released so far about the minors and the supposed motive of the detainee for the heinous crime.

Not only has this damning evidence surfaced, but it's also been exposed that Suárez breached the house arrest she was serving for a prior conviction.

Curious to know more? Here's the skinny on another recent headline:

Busted: Fugitive Arrested for Killing Partner and Running Away with his 10-month-old Son

In a different, yet equally chilling string of events, a man accused of killing his partner and skipping town with their 10-month-old son has finally been brought to justice. And that's not all the juicy details that have surfaced recently.

Moving on, let's delve into some other alarming news from across the province:

Evidence in Plain Sight: Suspect Violated House Arrest and Swigged Beer on Camera

Further incriminating evidence has emerged in the Suárez case. Images recorded by a Google Street View vehicle in June 2024 capture Suárez on several occasions flouting the house arrest she was meant to follow. There she is, first crossing the street arm-in-arm with a man, and later seen on her house's sidewalk, each time with a bottle of beer in her hand - all while oblivious of the fact that she was being photographed by an unblinking camera eye.

This damming evidence further underscores the violation of the benefits bestowed upon her by the Justice, which allowed her to care for her minor children while the kids' father is behind bars.

Currently, the gruesome investigation into the murder of Rodas continues under the guidance of Homicide Prosecutor Andrea Lazo. Prior to the heinous act, Suárez, aged 40, was under house arrest having been slapped with a six-year sentence for an aggravated robbery conviction. Judge Sebastián Sarmiento had granted her home confinement so she could look after her young children, as reported by the Los Andes newspaper.

The grisly crime was reported last Wednesday when Suárez's former brother-in-law showed up at the 45th Guaymallén Police Station to report that she'd sent him a grisly photo of a man with a torso burned and dismembered via WhatsApp.

Mendoza Police officers subsequently rushed to the residence at 1900 Adolfo Calle, where Suárez initially refused entry. Once they obtained a search warrant, they discovered the charred remains of César Rodas, a 41-year-old tenant who rented a room on the property. During the operation, four minors living in the home received support, with the Prosecutor's Office assuming their temporary custody. Meanwhile, the Scientific Police carried out forensic examinations at the scene.

Also apprehended were two men. One of them was later released. As such, two primary suspects remain in custody: Suárez and a man identified as M.R.A., 35. Both face accusations of "aggravated homicide with aggravating circumstances", a crime that guarantees a life sentence.

A closer look at Suárez's past reveals an extensive criminal history. The woman has court records for aggravated robbery in a populated area and armed robbery in a gang, dating back to August 12, 2012. She also has two counts of simple threats, from November 27, 2014, and aggravated robbery with a white weapon in a populated area and in a gang, from January 16, 2019.

As for M.R.A., he's also no stranger to the law. He was involved in a case of attempted simple robbery, dated August 5, 2023, and another case of simple theft, from January 31, 2024.

With the evidence collected thus far casting doubt on Suárez's assertions of an alleged abuse as the motive for the grisly crime, we'll have to wait and see how this dark mystery unravels.

In the midst of the general-news headlines, the Suárez case in Mendoza, initially sparked by accusations of abuse, has taken an unexpected turn as new evidence suggests no signs of physical abuse among Suárez's minor daughters. Additionally, it has been exposed that Suárez breached her house arrest, which she was serving for a prior conviction, further complicating the justice system's handling of the crime-and-justice case.
