Accusations levied against suspected left-wing extremists within Lina E.'s associates' group
Unleashing the Left-Wing Strikeforce!
Karlsruhe (dpa) - The Federal Prosecutor's Office is firing back at the left-wing radicals! Seven alleged extremists, including the group's supposed mastermind, Johann G., are facing charges for membership and support of a left-wing extremist criminal organization. The Higher Regional Court of Dresden’s State Protection Senate will decide if a trial is in order.
Some say our old friend, Johann G., held a prominent position within this organization. This 31-year-old mysteriously got caught on a train near Weimar back in November, much to the displeasure of this loose collective. His former partner, Lina E., who is already doing time, also seems to have been deeply involved in this militant left-wing extravaganza.
Roving Radicals and Violent Actions
The Federal Prosecutor's Office has had its eye on this group for quite some time now. In their statement, they claim these extremists display a militant far-left ideology, and that they've been unleashing violence against individuals they deem to be from the 'right-wing scene' for years. They also suggest that the members meticulously planned their attacks and even spied on their victims' daily routines.
The suspects are accused of participating in a criminal organization in several instances. In addition, they're charged with attempted murder, grievous bodily harm, property damage, aggravated theft, and more. As of now, four of the men are behind bars, while the remaining three, two men and one woman, are still at large.
The Budapest Bloodbath
It's not just Thuringia and Saxony that've seen these radicals in action. In February 2023, Johann G. and another defendant are said to have joined forces with accomplices in Budapest, Hungary. They allegedly targeted individuals from the 'right-wing spectrum' who ended up injured in the process.
Following this attack, several previously untraceable suspects turned themselves in to the authorities in January. Their lawyers argued against their extradition to Hungary, claiming they faced an ‘unreasonably long’ sentence of up to 24 years in Hungary and that the legal proceedings there don't meet the standards of the rule of law.
A Trial in Hungary
Last summer, another person by the name of Maja, who identifies as non-binary, was apprehended in Berlin and extradited to Hungary in June 2024. Accusations were leveled against Maja as well, in connection with the Budapest attacks.
Initially, the Federal Constitutional Court prohibited Maja's extradition, but the decision came just a few minutes too late - Maja had already been handed over to the Hungarian authorities. Though Maja's trial is ongoing in Hungary, the highest German court later ruled the extradition to be inadmissible. Maja has been locked up in Hungarian custody since February.
Lina E. herself is serving a prison sentence following a conviction by the OLG Dresden in 2023. The Federal Court of Justice confirmed the verdict in March - it's final. However, the length of E.'s remaining sentence is still unclear, taking into account her pretrial detention.
The Federal Prosecutor's Office has stated that the alleged left-wing extremist group, which includes Johann G and Lina E, have been engaging in violence against individuals from the 'right-wing scene' and planning attacks, facing charges such as membership in a criminal organization, attempted murder, and property damage. The general news about this ongoing case also involves some of their activities in politics, such as the Budapest Bloodbath incident where they targeted individuals from the 'right-wing spectrum' in Hungary.
