Accusations levied against Caroline Bosbach are met with denial

Caroline Bosbach, a CDU Bundestag member, is currently under investigation for allegations concerning her election to the executive board of Mittelstands- und Wirtschaftsunion (MIT) in 2023. The accusations surfaced based on chat messages and sworn statements obtained by media outlets such as t-online and ARD's "Kontraste."

According to the reports, Bosbach is accused of attempting to influence the election for the MIT board by offering payments or money-related incentives, including free catering, to recruit new members and secure votes. The allegations suggest that she sought money-dependent votes to assure her position in the MIT Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis board election.

However, Bosbach has denied these accusations, asserting that no vote-buying took place. She claims the allegations are based on manipulated chat logs leaked to the press. In response to the allegations, the CDU in the Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis demanded that Bosbach clarify the matter, issuing her an ultimatum to provide a satisfactory explanation by August 8, 2025.

The CDU executive board is cooperating fully in the matter and has handed over all documents to the Cologne Public Prosecutor's Office for independent review. Bosbach, for her part, has published a video on Facebook and Instagram denying the allegations and expressing her hope for swift clarification, especially during the current NRW municipal election campaign.

Bosbach has also stated that she does not want the allegations to be the subject of conversation at public appearances and has decided to refrain from attending any election campaign events until the matter is clarified. The MIT has not yet commented on this matter.

It is important to note that Bosbach is known for her appearance on the RTL show "Let's Dance" and is the daughter of the former CDU interior politician Wolfgang Bosbach. In light of these allegations, Bosbach has expressed her intention to take legal action against the campaign she believes is aimed at damaging her credibility.

As of the latest updates, the investigation and party proceedings are ongoing, with no definitive legal conclusion reported yet. The CDU is awaiting Bosbach's response to decide on any further actions within the party. The new allegations are reported by "Stern" and RTL/ntv.

Economic and social policy debates in the Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis have been overshadowed by the ongoing investigation into CDU Bundestag member Caroline Bosbach, accused of attempting to influence her election to the MIT board through improper means. Policy-and-legislation discussions have taken a backseat to general news coverage about Bosbach's allegations, which involve accusations of vote-buying, manipulated chat logs, and a subsequent ultimatum from the CDU.
