Left-Wing Extremists Bust: Prosecutor Takes Down Lina E.'s Crew, Including Johann G.

Accused radical leftists associated with Lina E. face criminal charges - Accusations leveled against a suspected group of left-wing extremists associated with Lina E.

Let's get down to the nitty-gritty!

The Feds have slammed the brakes on seven suspected lefty agitators associated with Lina E., slapping them with charges ranging from membership to support of a crack left-wing extremist criminal gang. The State Security Senate of the Higher Regional Court of Dresden is now mulling over whether and when to throw 'em in the hot seat.

The drama unfolded when the Saarland State Criminal Office nabbed Johann G., Lina E.'s former squeeze, aboard a local train near Weimar in November. The sleuths had been sniffing around G. for quite some time, according to the German Press Agency buzz. The Feds claim G. held a high rank in the organization alongside Lina E.

This rambunctious crew has been on the Feds' radar for a while, with their members harboring some pretty intense left-wing extremist sentiments. They allegedly carried out bloody assaults against suspected right-wing nuts over several years, according to the Feds. These vindictive vermin would have meticulously prepared their attacks and often stalked their targets, mapping out their daily routines.

The Feds accuse the accused of participating in a criminal organization more times than a cat has fur. They also charge the ensemble with a litany of awful deeds: attempted murder, grave bodily harm, property damage, and grand theft. Four of the roughnecks are behind bars, while the remaining three — two gents and a lady — are still on the lam.

Budapest Brouhaha

Aside from the ruckus in Thuringia and Saxony, G. and another suspect are also alleged to have clobbered people in the Hungarian capital Budapest in February 2023, who they thought were right-wing ruffians. Several unfortunate souls also ended up in the hospital during this bust.

In relation to the Budapest brawl, a gaggle of previously untraceable felons surrendered to the law in January. Their lawyers aimed to block extradition to Hungary and demanded a trial in Germany to dodge Hungary's purportedly extravagant penalty of up to 24 years in prison, which allegedly breaches the rule of law.

Another Person in the Docket

Last summer, a case that got everybody talking involved a person who goes by the name of Maja, who identifies as non-binary. After spending some time behind bars in Berlin and getting extradited to Hungary in June 2024, the Hungarian authorities also accused Maja of involvement in the Budapest attacks.

The Federal Constitutional Court disallowed the extradition in an emergency hearing. However, the decision from Karlsruhe arrived too late, as Maja had already been turning over a new leaf in Hungary. Once the main hearing wrapped up, the highest German court ruled the extradition unjustified. Since February, Maja has been on trial in Hungary.

Lina E. is currently doing time. The Higher Regional Court of Dresden sentenced her in 2023, among other charges, for membership in a criminal organization and inflicting grave bodily harm. The Federal Court of Justice upheld the conviction in March, making it official. The length of E.'s sentence wasn't immediately clear, but her pre-trial detention will be taken into account.
