Accusations against Mette-Marit's son, Marius Borg Høiby
In a shocking turn of events, Prince Marius Borg Høiby, the eldest son of Norway's Crown Princess Mette-Marit, is standing trial for a series of charges that span multiple offenses. The charges, announced by prosecutor Sturla Henriksbø in Oslo, include four counts of rape, domestic abuse against a former partner, several acts of violence, making death threats, filming women’s genitals without consent, vandalism, disturbing the peace, violation of restraining orders, and other assaults involving different former partners.
The investigation into these allegations has been ongoing for several months, with the police confirming their involvement in the case. Prince Marius was arrested in August 2024 for assaulting a girlfriend, marking the beginning of this legal process.
If convicted, Prince Marius could face up to ten years in prison. However, his defense attorney has stated that he denies the most serious allegations, particularly those related to sexual abuse and violence. The defense acknowledges some lesser charges and plans to plead guilty to those.
The trial, which is set to begin possibly in mid-January, is expected to last around six weeks. The royal palace has stated that it will leave the legal process to the courts and has made no further comments. It's important to note that although he is part of the royal family as the stepson of Crown Prince Haakon, Marius does not hold any royal title or official duties.
The alleged incident occurred in Oslo, with the victim being a woman. The case remains under investigation, and the next court hearing for Prince Marius is scheduled for next month. The royal family has not made any public comments regarding these charges.
As this case unfolds, the Norwegian public and the international community will be closely following developments, hoping for a just outcome.
