According to reported incidents, authorities are stopping a Volkswagen Golf GTI vehicle.

In Baumholder, police stopped a heavily modified VW Golf GTI during a traffic control on Wednesday, September 17, 2025. The driver, who remains unnamed in the available reports, faces a penalty for excessively modifying the vehicle.

The Golf GTI, equipped with an air suspension system, or "Airride" system, which allows the vehicle height to be adjusted electronically, was found to have several unauthorized modifications. These included manipulated exhaust system, disconnected control module, and adjustable coupling rods.

The exhaust system modification deactivated the exhaust brake, causing loud "backfires" from the vehicle. A noise level measurement recorded a stationary noise of 106 decibels, equivalent to the sound of a jackhammer.

The internal roll cage in the Isofix holder for the child seat was also found to be not permitted. The front tires were severely worn due to incorrect settings, and the vehicle's operating permit has been revoked.

The driver was prohibited from continuing his journey and faces a three-digit fine. The modification in question took place during the "Safety Days" in Baumholder. This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of adhering to safety regulations when modifying vehicles.
