In a tragic incident that occurred on August 2, 2025, a woman in her 50s lost her life after a collision with a 12-year-old cyclist on a pathway north of Hidden Valley Drive NW in Calgary. The incident took place around 3:55 p.m., when the youth approached the woman and her husband from behind on a bicycle, colliding with the woman and knocking her to the ground with life-threatening injuries.

The woman was immediately transported to the hospital, but despite the best efforts of medical staff, she later succumbed to her injuries.

Police were not notified at the time and did not attend the scene initially. However, following the woman’s death, they have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the collision and whether there was any criminal element involved.
