In a surprising turn of events, pop sensation Miley Cyrus has announced that she will not be touring in support of her latest album, 'Something Beautiful'. The news comes after the release of the album in May, which did not feature an accompanying tour.

Cyrus, who performed a surprise concert with Beyoncé in Paris in June, was interviewed by 'Good Morning America' regarding her decision. She explained that the reasons for her tour cancellations stem from a deliberate prioritization of her mental health and sobriety.

The high-intensity lifestyle of touring poses a significant challenge for Cyrus, who finds it hard to sustain her sobriety during the adrenaline-fuelled performances and the emotional rollercoaster that follows. "Thousands of people screaming at me, the massive dopamine rush, it's exhilarating," she said, "But the crash afterward can lead to unhealthy thought patterns about needing constant validation from large audiences."

In addition to her personal struggles, Cyrus also criticised the lack of support for artists in the industry. She believes that there is no proper infrastructure currently in place to support artists adequately while they are touring, citing the toll that intensive touring took on artists like Prince, who lived a high-intensity lifestyle on the road and is no longer alive.

Since her last major tour, the 'Bangerz Tour' in 2014, Cyrus has focused more on her physical and mental health. She admitted openly that it's hard to stay sober on tour and emphasized that staying sober is a crucial pillar of stability in her life.

Cyrus also disclosed a diagnosis of Reinke's edema, a vocal cord condition related to strain, which adds to her challenges with touring. However, she has not completely retired from the stage and may make appearances at selected events.

Cyrus's stance brings attention to the broader conversation about how the music industry can better support artist wellness amid gruelling tour schedules. Her decision not to tour for 'Something Beautiful' is due to personal reasons and the lack of support in the industry, highlighting the need for change in the industry's approach to artist wellness.
