ABC's Decision to Postpone Jimmy Kimmel's Show and "The View's" Subsequent Silence Revealed

In a surprising turn of events, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman, Brendan Carr, has hinted that daytime talk show The Daily Show may be under investigation. The announcement comes amid the ongoing controversy surrounding the suspension of Jimmy Fallon's late-night show.

On September 18, 2025, Carr made his comments during an appearance on The Scott Jennings Radio Show, stating that "we're not done yet" with changes to "the media ecosystem." The FCC Chairman's remarks were made in response to the suspension of Jimmy Kimmel's late-night show, triggered by his remarks about Charlie Kirk during his Sept. 15 opening monologue.

Carr initiated an investigation into The Daily Show in early September 2025 to examine whether the show violated the FCC’s equal-time rules regarding coverage of competing political candidates. This public interest obligation for broadcasters using public frequencies is a crucial aspect of the FCC's mandate.

Interestingly, The Daily Show has not mentioned Kimmel's show suspension on September 18 and 19 episodes, nor did the cohosts discuss it during the September 18 episode, which aired one day after Jimmy Kimmel Live! was pulled off the air. This silence has sparked curiosity among viewers and some users on Twitter, who have expressed their surprise and concern.

The FCC Chairman's comments about The Daily Show were also made amidst strong reactions from politicians, Hollywood celebrities, and fellow late-night hosts regarding Kimmel's suspension. However, The Daily Show has remained conspicuously silent on the topic.

In a new report, it is suggested that the reason for The Daily Show's silence regarding Kimmel's suspension might be different from what was initially thought. The FCC Chairman himself praised the decisions of Nexstar Media and Sinclair not to air Jimmy Kimmel Live! but did not elaborate on The Daily Show's potential reasons.

Carr further suggested that the FCC should investigate whether The Daily Show qualifies as a bona fide news program, a move that could have significant implications for the show and the broader media landscape. As the investigation unfolds, viewers and media enthusiasts alike will be watching closely to see how this story develops.
