ABC temporarily halts Jimmy Kimmel's talk show due to his statements regarding Charlie Kirk
In a surprising turn of events, ABC network has announced the indefinite suspension of Jimmy Kimmel Live! following controversial remarks made by the talk show host about the tragic death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
The suspension took effect immediately, cancelling that night's scheduled broadcast. This is not the first time Jimmy Kimmel and Donald Trump have clashed, as Kimmel has been a vocal critic of Trump for years.
During his Monday night monologue, Kimmel accused the MAGA gang of attempting to score political points from Charlie Kirk's death. The remarks drew swift condemnation from conservative commentators and political figures.
Nexstar Media Group, which owns several ABC affiliate stations, stated that Kimmel's comments were "offensive and insensitive at a critical time in our national political discourse". The president of Nexstar Media Group who supports ABC's decision for the indefinite suspension of Jimmy Kimmel Live! is Andrew (Andy) Alford.
The suspension follows intense criticism over Kimmel's remarks about the killing of Kirk, the 31-year-old founder of the influential conservative youth group Turning Point USA, who was killed during a public event at Utah Valley University.
US President Donald Trump celebrated the suspension of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, calling it 'Great News for America' and stating that Kimmel has 'ZERO talent.'
At the time of writing, no further information about the future of Jimmy Kimmel Live! has been announced.
