ABC temporarily halts Jimmy Kimmel's program following his remarks concerning Kirk's murder

In a series of events, late-night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel found himself in hot water following his comments about the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk by Tyler Robinson, a 22-year-old from Utah who used his grandfather's rifle to shoot Kirk near the Utah Valley University. ABC News indefinitely pulled Kimmel's show off the air due to his remarks.

President Donald Trump, taking to Truth Social, congratulated ABC for their decision, stating that they were 'doing their viewers a favor' by suspending Kimmel's show. The White House Rapid Response echoed Trump's sentiments, praising the move.

However, FCC Chairman Brendan Carr took a different stance. He issued a threat to Kimmel on the Benny Johnson show, suggesting that the companies involved could face 'additional work' from the FCC if they failed to address the conduct of Kimmel's show. Carr teased 'avenues' the FCC could pursue regarding the matter.

The controversy didn't end there. Jimmy Kimmel, in a statement, acknowledged the gravity of the situation, saying, 'In between the finger-pointing, there was grieving.' He added, 'The MAGA Gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them.'

Kimmel further suggested that the suspect in the assassination, Tyler Robinson, was aligned with President Donald Trump. Robinson confessed to the killing and revealed possible political motives in texts.

Trump, in response, clarified that he was not responsible for Stephen Colbert's firing. He pointed out that Colbert was a 'pure lack of TALENT.' Trump also took aim at Seth Meyers and Jimmy Fallon in his post on Truth Social.

The fallout from the controversy extended to Sinclair, Inc., which also pulled the Kimmel show from its broadcast stations. As the situation unfolds, it remains to be seen how the FCC will respond and what the future holds for Jimmy Kimmel's show.
