Abby Huntsman returns to The View—but only as a guest host this time
Abby Huntsman, a former co-host of The View, is returning to the show as a guest host this week. She will temporarily replace Alyssa Farah Griffin, who is currently on maternity leave.
Other conservative commentators, including Savannah Chrisley and Elisabeth Hasselbeck, have also filled in during Griffin's absence.
Huntsman first joined The View in 2018, serving as one of its conservative voices until her departure in 2020. At the time, her exit was linked to helping her father's gubernatorial campaign. Later, however, she revealed that a toxic work environment had played a major role in her decision.
Reports of tension between Huntsman and fellow conservative panelist Meghan McCain had surfaced before she left. She also refused to read a producer's statement on air denying claims about workplace issues, which led to a heated confrontation. After leaving, Huntsman admitted she felt relieved and more present—something she hadn't experienced during her two years on the programme.
She later criticised the show, saying it 'did not reflect my values' and accused it of 'rewarding people for bad behaviour'. During her time as a permanent co-host, she appeared alongside Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, and McCain.
Huntsman's return comes as part of a rotation of guest hosts covering for Griffin. Her previous experience on the show, along with her public comments about its culture, adds a notable dynamic to this temporary role. The programme has not confirmed any long-term changes to its conservative panel since McCain's departure in 2022.
