A mammoth haulage catastrophe on Highway 38 between Bleicherode and Nordhausen in the trajectory towards Leipzig has ensnared motorists in a standstill for hours now. The mishap, involving three vehicles and resulting in three injuries, has left the route blocked for the better part of the morning. As per a police spokesperson, the trucks' recovery process is proving to be a Herculean task, leaving motorists waiting until at least midday before they can traverse the stretch between Großwechsungen and Nordhausen-West junctions once again. The diversionary routes are in full swing, while bulky machinery is deployed to extricate the vehicles entangled in the accident.

In line with the police report, a 64-year-old truck driver apparently overlooked a traffic jam in the wee hours and ploughed into the vehicles ahead of him. Sadly, the man became trapped in his cab and was rushed to the hospital with severe injuries. Two other individuals also sustained injuries, one severely and another mildly.
