A23 Traffic Chaos: Expect Major Delays This Weekend
A significant traffic disruption is expected on the A23 this weekend. A construction site, set up for repair work, is causing a major traffic jam in the direction of Hirschstetten between the Prater interchange and the Kaisermühlen interchange. The Landesbetrieb Straßenbau und Verkehr Schleswig-Holstein is responsible for the repairs, with work beginning on October 27, 2025.
The construction site has led to individual lanes being closed in both directions, with only one lane remaining open. This has resulted in substantial delays, with drivers experiencing up to 90 minutes of additional travel time. The trend shows that these delays are increasing.
The automobile club ARBO has advised drivers to avoid the A23 northbound today and suggested alternative routes. Detours include the Wagramer Straße, the Reichsbrücke, the Lassallestraße, the Floridsdorfer Hauptstraße, the Floridsdorfer Bridge, the Adalbert-Stifter-Straße, the Handelskai, the Nordbrücke, and the Gürtel.
The closures are scheduled to be lifted on Monday, October 20, at 5 am. Motorists are urged to plan their journeys accordingly and consider alternative routes to avoid the A23 during this period.
