The A23 renovation, between Pinneberg and Hamburg, wraps up ahead of schedule! 🛠️ Autobahn GmbH Nord announced last week that the two-lane stretch, from Pinneberg-Süd to the Hamburg-Nordwest interchange, is back up and running. Since March, the lane heading towards Hamburg underwent an overhaul, including a fresh whisper asphalt surface, enhanced safety equipment, and new markings.
The construction team rebuilt the entire drainage system as well, as the open-pore asphalt doesn't let rainwater run off like conventional surfaces do. Instead, it seeps through the layer, reducing noise levels.
Next year, construction will commence at the Hamburg-Eidelstedt junction. Regular maintenance work is also on the cards between Tornesch and Pinneberg-Mitte. With nearly 90,000 vehicles utilizing this route daily, approximately 5000 locals will enjoy the benefits of lowered traffic noise.
While this section of the A23 underwent refurbishments, the federal government's Autobahn GmbH managed the project in Schleswig-Holstein. Although the A23's renovation isn't complete, the pinpointed work in Pinneberg-Mitte has visibly reduced traffic noise and benefited local residents.
