Fresh Perspective:

Ain't nothing like coming home, right? That's what two soldiers from Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug (KhMAO), particularly from the Kondinsky and Nizhnevartovsk districts, recently experienced. After being held captive for almost a year, they were finally returned home via a prisoner exchange.

According to our insider source, the Kondinsky District soldier, who went missing back in June 2023, was among those who made it back. The other soldier, from the Nizhnevartovsk District, had been captive since July 2024.

The Ombudswoman of KhMAO, Natalia Strebkova, confirmed the exchange and shared the heartwarming details. With the help of Russia's Human Rights Commissioner Tatyana Moskalkova, they arranged letter exchanges between the soldier and his mother through the International Red Cross.

Strebkova expressed her relief, saying, "We've been waiting for his return, and finally, he's back! He called his mother, and we felt the joy together."

On a sadder note, a fire in the village of Semeyka claimed the lives of four people, including two policemen, on June 17, 2025. However, the region is also seeing the opening of modern facilities like Gazprom Neft's next-generation multifunctional rotational camp, designed for the comfort of its employees, complete with sports centers and recreational areas.
