Title Match Showdown: Sinner vs Alcaraz in the City of Lights - A triumphant final lies ahead in Paris, pitting Sinner against Alcaraz.

The dream final at the French Open is upon us. The best tennis players in the game are set to clash in Paris on Sunday for the title. Jannik Sinner against Carlos Alcaraz - it doesn't get more thrilling in men's tennis right now.

World number one Sinner edged past Novak Djokovic in the semifinals 6:4, 7:5, 7:6 (7:3). Defending champion Alcaraz sent packing Lorenzo Musetti, with Musetti's injury retirement at 4:6, 7:6 (7:3), 6:0, 2:0 leaving Alcaraz victorious.

In the women's draw, top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka from Belarus and second-ranked Coco Gauff from the USA will face off for the title on Saturday (15:00 CET/Eurosport). This is the first time since 1984 that both the number one and number two seeds will face off in the finals at Paris in both the men's and women's draws. In the juniors, there will be a German duel between the 17-year-olds, Max Schönhaus and Niels McDonald.

A gripping, high-class semifinal between Sinner and Djokovic

Sinner and Djokovic put on a tense and classy semifinal match. The 38-year-old Djokovic had triumphed against Alexander Zverev in the quarters in four sets. Against world number one Sinner, the record Grand Slam champion once again demonstrated that he can still compete with the best even at an advanced age.

But Sinner was in top form against Djokovic once more. The Italian took the opening set, 6:4, after 46 minutes. Djokovic fought back but Sinner countered every blow. When serving for the second set at 5:4, Djokovic rallied and broke back. Chants of "Novak, Novak" echoed through the packed stadium filled with celebrities. But Sinner remained calm, broke Djokovic immediately after, and later sealed the deal with his second set point.

Djokovic was treated afterwards, clearly feeling the strain. Despite this, he continued to battle. He even had three set points at 5:4 but Sinner saved them all. The arena erupted, and it went to a tiebreak. Sinner closed the match without dropping a set. "I had to play my best tennis to beat him. He once again showed what an inspiration he is for all of us," said Sinner about Djokovic post-match.

The Serb was applauded by the crowd despite the loss. "It might have been my last match here at Roland Garros. The atmosphere was electric, I wanted to thank you all for that," said Djokovic about the scene when he stopped in the middle of the court and waved to the crowd on his exit.

Alcaraz channels Nadal

Before the match, Alcaraz made a quick visit to Rafael Nadal's footprint on Court Philippe-Chatrier and snapped a photo. The stone plaque has been a fixture on the Centre Court in Paris since this year's tournament, unveiled during the emotional tribute to the 14-time Paris champion at the beginning of the tournament.

However, at the start of the semifinal, Alcaraz played unlike his legendary countryman, who had displayed his best tennis at Stade Roland Garros throughout his career. Alcaraz wrestled against Musetti, who had impressed the crowd with his performances earlier in the tournament.

Alcaraz lost the initial set and encountered difficulties in the following rounds. While he led by two breaks in the second set, Musetti rebounded both times. At 3:4, Alcaraz flew into a rage and kicked his chair. It was only in the tiebreak that the Spaniard managed to level the set, and Musetti appeared to lose steam.

Alcaraz then stepped up the intensity and gave Musetti no more chances. The Spaniard won the third set in just 21 minutes, with Musetti already looking tired and in need of medical attention. Although the Italian tried again, he couldn't recover at the start of the fourth set.

"Winning a match like this is never enjoyable," said Alcaraz in a courtside interview following the match. "Lorenzo has enjoyed a tremendous clay-court season. I hope he recovers soon." Musetti was disheartened by the match's conclusion. "I understood I had to play the tennis game of my life against him, and I did so for two sets. But then I experienced a pull, and I simply couldn't continue."
