A tire-boy takes on an adventure in a stunning open-world, nearly indistinguishable from the Nintendo's Breath of the Wild, revolutionizing the PC gaming landscape.

Under my TV lies a quaint, underpowered device, dubbed the 'Nintendo Switch'. I snagged this little guy, in its fancy, shining OLED version, to experience the legendary Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom. However, perhaps the gaming void it once filled is now non-existent, with the emergence of Tire Boy. Could it be that the much-revered Breath of the Wild is finally available on PC—truly on PC—thanks to this peculiar creation?

Cue in Tire Boy, appearing at Day of the Devs. This game bears a striking resemblance to a Link who's had an unfortunate run-in with an auto body shop. You assume the role of a kid who is, for the most part, simply a kid—albeit with the addition of a colossal tire for a head that pops out from his neck, connecting between his feet, and encircling him like a twisted 360.

Despite its eerie appearance, I must admit, the whole setup seems rather delightful, especially when you hear the enthusiastic developers discussing it. "Tire Boy is swift and agile," claims the dev studio, an assertion I find improbable considering a tire-headed kid probably would struggle with flexibility. But lo and behold, there he goes, tackling giant toad-beasts and effortlessly rolling across the expansive countryside, giving the impression that it's the conventional humans whose design is flawed.

Boasting a compelling blend of Breath of the Wild-esque elements and imaginative peculiarities, Tire Boy stands out as an original piece.

The main quest revolves around repairing a massive radio transmitter to reconnect with lost travelers. Moreover, our tire-headed protagonist had an upbringing with a colossal owl named Nestwijk. The origins of Tire Boy's tire-like physique and his ties to a presumably tire-headed kin are anticipated to be a significant part of the game's narrative. At one point, Tire Boy is seen strumming an acoustic guitar while traversing the shared world. I'm not developing any thesis around this detail, I just thought it worth mentioning.

While my Switch is now more obsolete than ever, I'm more than eager to connect (pun intended) with Tire Boy when he finally makes his appearance at some indeterminate point in the future.
