The 31st Sziget Festival Brings Exciting Changes to Budapest

The 31st edition of the Sziget Festival, set to take place in Budapest, is set to offer a unique experience for music lovers and festival-goers alike, with significant changes and innovations.

This year, the Yettel Colosseum has been redesigned, while the Bolt Night Stage replaces the former Arena. A new venue, The Club by Don Julio, has been introduced, creating a nightclub atmosphere, particularly in the Delta District to cater to the rising popularity of electronic music.

The festival now hosts around 50 stages and over 1,000 programs, arranged more deliberately according to genre and experience zones, marking a fundamental change to the festival's structure. The redevelopment has also freed up more green spaces, allowing festival-goers to camp in additional areas, enhancing the festival’s “place to get lost” experience.

A shift towards enhanced digital infrastructure is also notable, with a fully overhauled Android-based payment system at all food vendors, speeding up transactions and allowing real-time management of sales data.

These updates reflect a strategic, multi-year plan to strengthen Sziget’s identity while responding to shifting cultural consumption habits and rising visitor expectations, balancing innovation with the festival’s traditional core values of diverse musical and cultural offerings.

In addition to the music, the Sziget Festival offers a variety of cultural and community events, making it a must-visit destination for festival-goers. With the electronic line-up attracting many festival-goers, this year's event promises an unforgettable experience.

Despite the closure of the beach at the festival due to high water levels on the Danube, organisers anticipate more attendees this year, although the exact number is unknown. Last year, over 400,000 people attended the festival via the K-bridge.

Notable mainstream acts performing at the festival include Charli XCX, Chappell Roan, and Shawn Mendes. With these changes and the promise of an incredible line-up, the 31st Sziget Festival is shaping up to be an event not to be missed.
