Student Takes On 5-Day Ultramarathon Challenge for Local Cancer Charity
Emily Paton, a Year 10 pupil at Jersey College for Girls, is gearing up for an extraordinary feat next month. The 15-year-old has announced her plans to run five 50km ultramarathons over five consecutive days, all in the name of raising funds and awareness for a local cancer charity.
The ultramarathon challenge, scheduled for Tuesday 28 October 2025 to Saturday 1 November 2025, will take place during the October half term. Emily's ambitious journey will see her running 50km each day for five days, covering a total distance of approximately 250km - that's the distance from London to Manchester!
But this isn't just about setting a personal record for Emily. Her ultramarathon challenge is intended to develop her resilience, physical endurance, discipline, and mental toughness, while also raising much-needed funds for ABC Jersey, a local charity that provides support to breast cancer patients and their families in Jersey.
Emily's motivation for this challenge stems from her love for endurance running and her desire to raise awareness for breast cancer and support ABC Jersey. Islanders can sponsor Emily on her JustGiving page as she takes on this incredible feat.
Each day of Emily's challenge will see her running through iconic cities - London, Paris, Rome, Berlin, and Copenhagen. The funds raised by her ultramarathon challenge will go directly to supporting breast cancer patients and their families in Jersey, helping them during their difficult journey.
So, if you're inspired by Emily's determination and want to support a worthy cause, head over to her JustGiving page and make a donation. Let's help Emily reach her goal and make a difference in the lives of those affected by breast cancer in Jersey.
