In a significant development, Austrian authorities have arrested a 71-year-old man in Carinthia, suspected of being a key figure in the anti-state group known as the "Federal State of Prussia." The group denies the legitimacy of the Republic of Austria and aims to undermine its institutions.

The arrest was carried out by multiple police units, including the State Office for State Protection and Extremism Prevention (LSE), Cobra Special Forces Command, Special Unit for Combating Street Crime, and the Special Department. The operation was the culmination of extensive investigations against the group.

According to investigators, the suspect has been actively involved in the anti-state scene since 2023. He is believed to have threatened a judge to prevent a criminal proceeding, an offence for which he now faces charges at the Regional Court in Klagenfurt. The Public Prosecutor's Office in Klagenfurt has ordered the man to be taken to Klagenfurt Prison.

During the search of the man's apartment, documents and digital data carriers were secured, but no weapons were found. A 64-year-old German, who considered himself a "consul" and carried a fantasy ID, was also present during the arrest. An entry ban was issued against the German.

It is important to note that the "Federal State of Prussia" generally refers to the Free State of Prussia, which was the political successor to the Kingdom of Prussia after the German Empire's fall in 1918, within the Weimar Republic framework. However, no sources found in the results directly associate the Free State of Prussia with anti-state activities or subversive political movements in Austria or Germany.

Prussia historically was a leading conservative and militarized state that contributed to German unification and governance rather than anti-government efforts. The arrest highlights the ongoing efforts by Austrian authorities to combat extremism and maintain the rule of law.
